Mandatory 14 day Quarantine for Canadian citizens returning from abroad after having pre-tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 is devastating the Canadian Air Travel Industry. The illogical requirement to quarantine for the same duration as if one had tested positive is a poorly thought out procedure and discourages citizens from traveling even if circumstances are safe.

Air travel has proven itself safe regarding Covid-19 transmission and when combined with the early adoption of mitigating procedures such as mandatory PPE on flights, medical facility-grade air exchange capabilities, and improved facility cleaning and sterilization, has lowered the risk of transmitting the disease significantly.

The devastation of the Air Travel Industry will have long lasting repercussions on the Canadian economy, and leave the door open for foreign corporate entities to monopolize the Industry and prevent recovery of Canadian jobs. Tell Marc Garneau (Minister of Transport) and Justin Trudeau, that arbitrary, non-science based decisions on our future are not acceptable.
