Julian Bolivar started this petition to Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment

Lake Ontario alone is Ontario's main source of drinking water. What goes unnoticed is that the state of the lake is critical. The lake reached this state because of the dumping and disposing of waste product in the water. Many businesses and cities dump chemicals and waste products into our rivers and lakes on a regular basis. This is not good because it puts all life that relies on the lake at risk. As a result, hundreds of dead fish have washed up on the shores of Lake Ontario. This is due to the buildup of toxins in the food web. The dangers of this are that humans can also be negatively affected by the water. If exposed to these contaminants the symptoms include headaches, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. Lake Ontario has already earned its title as “The Lake of Shame”. Something needs to be done before this situation gets out of control and develops into a crisis.

By signing this petition together we can advocate for better protection of the lake, and restore it to the Great Lake that it is.
