Bring sponsored Syrian refugees to Canada now!

As of Dec. 15, 2015, private groups of Canadians across the country have applied to sponsor 8,214 Syrian Refugees. These groups have spent time, and money raised in their communities, to prepare for the arrival of sponsored Syrian Refugees to Canada. Now the federal government is saying that it could be the end of 2016, or even 2017, before they are granted entry to Canada. That’s not good enough. We have spent months preparing to welcome Syrian Refugee families by raising money, renting and furnishing homes, finding schools for the kids, organizing language training, and more. Across Canada, communities large and small have rallied to provide safe havens for these refugees. We did this at the government's invitation and encouragement.
Canada's Immigration officials speedily processed applications for 25,000 government sponsored Syrian refugees by the end of February, but then these officials were quietly sent back to their regular jobs by the Trudeau government. That left thousands of privately sponsored refugees, who aren’t here yet, in the lurch. We have all heard of the deplorable conditions and suffering they are experiencing. In March, World Vision estimated that there were an estimated 4.6 million Syrian Refugees, and 6.6 million Syrians displaced within Syria. Half of them are children.
Please help us to make this happen by signing and sharing this petition. Add your voice to demand that Minister John McCallum speed up the processing and arrival of these privately sponsored Syrian Refugees.
