Why this petition matters

According to recent CBC (and other) news reports, our Canada Pension Plan dollars are invested in the arms industry to the tune of $37 million CAD. "CPP owns shares in American firearm manufacturers, including the parent company of handgun manufacturer Smith & Wesson, assault rifle maker Ruger and Olin Corp., which produces ammunition for the AR-15, the weapon of choice for many perpetrators of mass shootings."

We believe that our pension dollars have no business supporting the continued and rising gun violence/mass murders in North America and abroad.

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is a Crown Corporation but operates at arms length from the Federal Government.

Join me in bringing pressure on the CPPIB to divest itself of such holdings. The public outcry about CPP investments in the private for profit US prison corporations was successful. Let us repeat that success here.
