Make Eid a Canadian day of celebration!
It's a very simple greeting that means "blessed Eid!" And for Muslims who observe Ramadan, it's what you say when the month-long fast is over. In 2017, this day will be celebrated from sunset on Sunday, June 25 to sunset on Monday, June 26.
I'm not Muslim but I plan to do this. I'm also not Christian, but I celebrate Christmas. I'm not Jewish, but I wish my Jewish friends a Happy Hanukkah.
I want all Canadians to make a very simple but profound gesture, to show those of us who observe Ramadan that they are accepted in Canada. That they are equals and play a vital role in our Canadian way of life.
It's so easy! Just wish people "Eid Mubarak" on June 26, 2017. And sign this petition to say that you'll do it.
- Prime Minister of Canada
The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau
