Parental Rights Regarding Head Lice Notification In Schools.

The Campbell River School District 72 is no longer required to inform Parent's of any cases of head lice within classrooms.
This decision is partly based on the view that "it does not impose a health risk" as put forth by The Vancouver Island Health Authority.
Upon discussing this topic with many outraged Parents I feel an open dialogue needs to be put forth with the School District 72, VIHA and any other organizations to discuss this epidemic further.
I am in no way suggesting that any child be put on the forefront regarding this matter, furthermore, I am not asking that schools do "head checks" that is the responsibility of Parents....ONLY THAT PARENTS CONTINUE TO BE NOTIFIED EITHER BY EMAIL OR LETTER if there is a case in their children's school so that they can make an INFORMED decision as to how to handle the matter and get ahead of the problem instead of sweeping it under the rug.
I feel this has become a liability issue within the School District and VIHA and they are afraid of potential discrimination law suits and nothing to do with children's health and welfare.
This is a very hot topic within my community and I personally am tired of the complacent attitude that some people have regarding head lice....and feel this is why it has become rampant in many communities.
I am asking for signatures so I can present it to The CR School District 72 to show how serious our community is. I can assure you it will be dealt with in a matter of discretion and respect for all....Thank you
