Details: Seniors and disability pensioners like me live on only $345 a week. They can't afford a new LNP government in Queensland pushing up
In 2009, we received a $32.49 a week increase in the single pension from
the Commonwealth Government. This was the first significant increase
we'd seen for years. Premier Anna Bligh promised that this increase
would not be counted when assessing income for social housing.
The NSW Labor Government also exempted this increase. But when Liberal
Barry O'Farrell became Premier, he removed this exemption, increasing
rents of pensioners in NSW by almost $10 a week.
We can't afford for our social housing rents to be jacked up.
We're asking Campbell Newman to promise in writing not to increase social housing rents for pensioners. “I know that I want to know don’t you want to know”
