Stop the NHS slashing funds for the homeless mental health team

The Camden NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) in north London is giving the Focus Homeless Outreach team 42% budget reduction per year; this equates to £219,866 less annually. Focus, set up 25 years ago, helps treat the high levels of depression, psychosis and other mental health conditions found in rough sleepers, hostel dwellers and “sofa surfers”, including some asylum seekers and people who have been trafficked. These groups of people are often ostracised from traditional NHS services and are reliant on Focus and other similar organisations to provide basic care to them. This huge reduction in funds will result in more rough sleepers suffering from mental health crises and an increase in the dire consequences that can follow. Camden had the third highest rate of rough sleepers in England, 2017. This decision will only add to the already heavy demand for metal health care being faced by hospitals and GPs in Camden.

Please sign this petition, and demand the funding to revert back to the original amount. We cannot let this calamity deprive people of their humanity and basic right to health care.
