Tackle throwaway takeaway containers in Camden market

Camden is a special inner London borough - it is vibrant and fun - with an internationally known market at its heart and a beautiful canal running through it. Camden lock market receives 100,000 visitors every week and many more people enjoy a night out in the wider environs. We love our market and our visitors but we don't love the throwaway takeaway contaminated containers and extremely low recycling rates.

We want to stop the plastic pollution of our wonderful canal.

We want to stop the reliance on non-biodegradeable single-use packaging

We want to stop the tonnes and tonnes of waste going to landfill which could be reused.

We want Camden Market to think more creatively about the food containers their stall holders supply, to look at introducing a branded reusable set of containers for food and drinks, to signpost shoppers to drinking water points, to provide food waste bins to reduce contamination and recycling bins for biodegradable containers and overall to contribute to a greener Camden.

We are residents or visitors to Camden and this is how we'd like our experience of Camden Market to be.
