We are a class of students at Parliament Hill School, passionate about raising money and awareness for reducing lonlieness in the elderly.
Since 2014 the social care budget has been slashed by £1 billion. This mean an increasing number of over 65s have no access to elderly lunch clubs, coffee mornings and other place
s they can meet people in similar situations to them. Without these events the elderly grow increasingly isolated, which is shown to have a negative effect on not only mental but physical health.
The population of over 65s is expected to rise to 21.9 million by 2039. This is why it is vital to protect the social care budget, not cut it.
57% of over 75s go a month without speaking to anyone.
How would you feel if that was your neighbour, parent or grandparent?
Aside from signing this petition, if you would like to help further we have a Justgiving page, to support helping the elderly in Camden.
