Bring Abedom Home to Northampton

Abedom is a 17 year old Asylum seeker who traveled alone for 2 years to the UK from his homeland of Eritrea. This was to escape a repressive regime that would have seen him enrolled in national service that is open ended and could have meant up to 20 years of slave labour.

Abedom was placed in Northampton where he made many friends. He is an excellent runner and is well know at Northampton Parkrun where he regularly wins in sub 16 minute times. He has the potential to be great and trains and is coached at Rugby and Northampton Athletic club. He is an integral part of our training group.

Recently we were all saddened by the fact he was moved to Leicester meaning he was uprooted from the community he had integrated so well into and making it difficult for him to train. He was also unsettled and the reasons for this are still unclear.

We would like to see him housed back in Northampton. Many have come forward to offer assistance with this and we ask that Cambridgeshire County Council would do whatever it takes to make this possible, as is his wish.
