The new development will ruin Newnham and Cambridge cannot take any more traffic and tacky developments.

I object for the same reasons development was refused in 2006 particularly the increased traffic on Barton road which is already suffering at the moment from increased traffic in particular lorries.

Why? Green belt is green belt for a reason!

Large areas of the land north of Barton Road falls within Flood Zone 3 (high risk).
The western part of the site suffers from poor air quality and noise due to the proximity of the M11.

The West Fields form an important part of the Cambridge green belt. Developing them would ruin the character of West Cambridge.

Instead of spreading this city out into the country why not wait and see how many redundant commercial, retail and office buildings there are after the longer term consequences of the pandemic become evident. As ever the university and individual colleges are careless about the town and it’s residents.

Releasing this land from the Green Belt and developing it, in however 'sensitive' a manner, would be hugely damaging to the precious rural character of the south-westerly approaches to the city, and it would serve as a precedent for developing more Green Belt sites nearby. This proposal should be rejected.

Our most critical global challenge right now is the climate and biodiversity crisis (along with pandemics linked to these) and this proposed development works against rather than contributes to a solution.

Much of this site is protected Green Belt, which is important to the entrance to the City and to preserving the environment and its biodiversity.
