We the undersigned petition the Speaker and the Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory to respectively request the Northern Territory Government rescinds its decision to recall the $12m grant for the Darwin Turf Club Grandstand for the following reasons:

1. The $12m Grant was spent and acquitted on the construction of the Grandstand.

2. The Grandstand is located on Crown land at the Fannie Bay Racecourse.

3. All grant monies were acquitted in accordance with the funding agreement, which was audited by an external accountancy firm.

4. Repaying $12m will cause great hardship across the NT Racing Industry which has had no prizemoney increases for 5 years in a time of rising costs.

5. The NT Racing Industry is a major contributor to the NT economy, providing 1000 FTE equivalent jobs and generating close to $140m in total direct expenditure, against approximately $17.88m received from NTG and TAB.
