Now is the era of accountability and transparency .Also now is the era of outside-the-box thinking. The some what new Police Services Commission have opened up the application process to select our new commissioner of police. Even though I'm some what confident in this some what new look commission. We the people need to have our own public deliberations .Therefore we the people are calling up on Jamaica Debates Commission and the the Private Sector Organistion of Jamaica to have and sponsor two public debate amoungst potential candidates who've applied for the job.

Projected potential candidates

So far potential applicants from the Jamaica Constabulary Force are :acting commissioner of police _DCP Clifford Blake ,ACP Fitz Bailey and acting ACP Stephen McGregor. Potential candidates outside of the JCF are: Former member of the JCF_Reneto Adams ;former member of the FBI_Wilfred Ratigan ;former Army Chief_Major General Anthony Anderson;current army chief_ Major General Rocky Meade ;former Contractor General_Greg Christie; and the former head of the Economic Growth Council _Richard Byles .Those names mention above are the names that members of the public have been calling for .

Potential Debating format

Imagine if the debates commission decides to have an debate amoungst fifthteen candidates in the first round live TV debate .Questions should come from three members of the media .The JDC together with the PSOJ should have a three panel judge to select their winner for the night. But the public should have an opportunity to have a say, by voting on who they think won the first round . The public top two and the judges selected pick will advance to the second and final round . A wildcard pick can even be brought into the second and final round base upon public voting and even a high profile candidate who was never apart of the first round debate. That wildcard pick can even come from the PSC favourite pick.Because in their wisdom of transparency , they want to see how their choice is perceived publicly .We the people  strongly believe this transparency process will be good for the PSC . The second and final round should've three to four candidates in a townhall style debate .Where this time they will get questions from the public.

Some persons will argue that this idea is a waste of time and that the PSC have the ultimate decision. The argument could be the same about our political leaders who worldwide have to go through TV debates even though the ultimate decision is with the people . But those debates have an impact on voters. Therefore this debate should and must have an impact on the PSC decision .
