Petition against siting of a mobile phone mast at Hightown Club or ANY sites near houses

This petition had 61 supporters

The undersigned are objecting, on the basis of visual impact and potential health risks against the siting of a mobile mast on the land of the Hightown cricket club or ANY site near houses. The World Health Organization (WHO) has classed mobile masts as a 2B Carcinogen that "is possibly carcinogenic to humans". We therefore propose that to avoid any possible harm to residents, it should be sited 800 metres (1/2 mile) from any residential dwellings in the village. We have identified a number of viable alternative sites for the mast at locations well away from houses (including an existing mast that could potentially be upgraded) and want to work with CTIL and Vodafone, the applicant, to further investigate suitability.

Changes to the planning rules around permitted development have now made it much easier for telecoms companies to build masts wherever they deem necessary. The mast they want to erect at the Hightown Club site is huge, at 22.5M (74 feet) tall, and will dominate the skyline of the whole village. Houses surround the playing ground where the mast is to be built, and children play there all the time.

If we do nothing, it is highly likely CTIL/Vodafone will continue with their planning application for the Hightown Club site largely unopposed; they have already issued a public consultation letter to residents via their planning consultant (Pegasus Group) asking for feedback no later than 22nd March.

We strongly urge you to join our petition and also hope you will submit your own objections and queries to Pegasus (email Rachel Morrison: ). Please be sure to ask for a receipt when contacting Pegasus so that you know your comments/objection have been formally logged, and please BCC or (forward) your reply to us so we can keep track of the number objections.   Please share the link for the petition with any friends and family based in Hightown.
