Call on President-Elect Trump to Condemn Hate Crimes Done in His Name
On November 9th, 2016 Shaun King began documenting the hate crimes and hate speech that are direct results of the 2016 election decision. These assaults are dangerous, divisive, violent, illegal and un-American. You can read about them here (trigger warning to survivors): https://twitter.com/ShaunKing
As our new President-elect, we are calling on Donald J Trump to personally and publicly condemn all physical and verbal assaults committed in his name or as a reaction to his victory.
President-Elect Donald Trump:
We, the undersigned, call on you to publicly condemn the hateful vandalism, verbal attacks and physical assaults committed in your name since your victory on November 8th. These incidents are a direct reaction to your campaign rhetoric and subsequent election. Furthermore, the perpetrators frequently mention your name or reference your policy positions during the attacks. We demand you rebuke these incidents immediately. They are dangerous, divisive, often illegal, always un-American, and they leave the victims terrorized.
Bring the people together as you promised. We are waiting for you to speak out. Put an end to the hate unleashed in your name.
