Currently, there are about 5,000 homeless people living in Toronto. Between January 1st and March 31st, 2018, Toronto Public Health Reported approximately 1.8 homeless deaths per week, or about 90 people total. So far this year 4 people have died in Toronto due to inaccessibility of shelters and warmth in sub-zero conditions. It is clear that the city of Toronto, as well as the Provincial and Federal Government, need to dedicate more money and resources to tackle this issue. To achieve this goal we will write to MP’s, MPP's, and City Councillors to get support and funding for more shelter beds, better emergency warming stations and better overall conditions inside the shelters. With signatures from this petition to back our goal up, we will hopefully be able to attain our goal and help those in need.
