A call for NSW Attorney General, Michael Daley, & MP Hugh McDermott to resign for condoning & justifying unlawful acts of the Law Society.

As victims and witnesses of a grave injustice, we have experienced firsthand the detrimental impact of the actions taken by Attorney General, Michael Daley, and Member of Parliament Hugh McDermott, who created a narrative to condone and excuse the unlawful conduct by the Law Society of NSW, of preventing the renewals of two solicitors' practising certificates on unsubstantiated statement of fact of misconduct made against two solicitors, Ms Marie Odtojan and Mr Artem Bryl.

In concert, they used their positions in public office, paid by taxpayers, to create a narrative justifying the unlawful actions of the Law Society of NSW and advocated for them stating that such actions can be done on mere allegations.

The representations by Attorney General and Mr McDermott (who are also lawyers themselves) that such actions can be done on mere allegations are against the law. They are fully aware that any allegations of misconduct must be commenced as disciplinary proceedings at the NSW Tribunal, NCAT.

The acts made against the two solicitors by the Law Society were done without any due lawful process and contrary to the laws.

The NSW Attorney General and the MP ignores notices and evidence provided to them of allegations made on LSPSD and false records made by NSW Justices Leeming & Kirk (Condon SC leave to appeal in 2023), and Basten and White (Ford & Glynn leave to appeal in 2023).

They condoned the Law Society dressing up a referral of the said NSW Justices as findings of misconduct as stated by Ms Valerie Griswold, Director of the Law Society of NSW Professional Standards Dept.

There were no findings of such misconduct as the leave to appeal was in relation to a District Court interim hearing of Judge Norton on notice of motion to set aside claim and/or strike out pleadings in Ms Odtojan's tort damages case against Mr Ford of Coram Chambers, Mr Glynn of Glynns Lawyers, & Mr Condon SC of New Chambers where the said respondents never attended court nor gave any evidence.

The decision to penalise legal practitioners without any evidence violates the principles of justice and due process. The legal framework in New South Wales mandates that allegations be thoroughly investigated and substantiated before any disciplinary action and/or action taken to and affect Solicitors data and ability to practice.

Both the Attorney General, Mr Daley, and Mr McDermott's acceptance and endorsement of such unlawful conduct by the Law Society of NSW betray their duty to uphold the law and safeguard the rights of those they are sworn to protect, the public.

This misuse of power is dangerous, eroding public trust and threatening the integrity of the legal system. The officials' actions suggest a concerning indifference to their responsibility, which necessitates their immediate resignation. Such dereliction of duty cannot and should not be tolerated in our government office.

Their persistence in office undermines the faith community members place in legal institutions. It is imperative that public officials model accountability, transparency, and integrity. By refusing to step down and self-report, Mr Daley and Mr McDermott show disregard for these core values.

We urge the community to stand with us as we call for accountability and transparency in our governing bodies. Sign this petition to demand the immediate resignation of the NSW Attorney General, Michael Daley, and MP, Hugh McDermott, to maintain the sanctity of the legal profession and restore public confidence in our system of justice. This change is crucial for ensuring fairness and protecting the rights of all individuals in New South Wales.

Your support is vital to show that we, the public, will not tolerate corrupt conduct and abuse of positions in office by the Attorney General, Michael Daley, and MP,  Hugh McDermott.
