Description:

Feminism is a movement that is often misunderstood, intersectionality is a word that is just beginning to gain traction. The two together, form a lens of education which encapsulates all. Roosevelt University is committed to inclusion, social consciousness and action towards social justice. This means that the education provided at Roosevelt should work to meet these goals. An intersectional feminist lens works towards this goal by providing students with the skills needed to understand how feminism works for equity for all while intersectionality creates an understanding of the injustices many are facing.

What are the goals of this campaign?

To create awareness and demonstrate the desire for a more inclusive education that an intersectional feminist lens would provide.

So what would this look like at Roosevelt?

By the time students graduate Roosevelt University, professors should ensure students are...

  1. Able to describe what the current feminist movement is about.
  2. Understanding and applying intersectionality to their own lives.
  3. Analyzing how the two come together and show up in spaces in and outside of the classroom.
  4. Encouraged to evaluate and create more opportunities for equity with intersectional feminism in mind.
