Due to Calistoga having a power outage because of the potential threat of wildfires, school should not be required to attend school on 10/9. If there was a fire to occur, families would feel better with their kids at home and not where they can’t get to fast. Also, if there was a fire to occur, it would be a health hazard for those with severe asthma and other breathing problems. Schools from Napa, Santa Rosa, and St. Helena have cancelled school for these exact reasons and Calistoga being the only school In the Napa valley that will be requiring students to go to school is not okay due to the reasons stated above. This is the same issue that happened two years ago before the fires got near Calistoga, students had to take action into their own hands and petition on this website to cancel school for their own safety.
