  1. Low Income Families in California have to choose to LIVE over LIVING because they are unable to afford private healthcare.

People have worked hard all their lives to achieve their dream of owning a home. Those same people have become sick and are only able to afford Medi-Cal. But the conundrum to this dilemma is; you cannot own property and receive some crucial services of Medi-Cal nor In-Home care assistance.

Most of those in need are only receiving their meager Social Security benefits. The simple fact is that you own a home free and clear, but you must now have to sacrifice the inheritance of your survivors to pay for healthcare. This should not be the sole alternative for tax payers.

For some of the benefits offered, you are unable to have property in your name and after you are deceased the State of California comes for your property for the incurred amount of costs that have accumulated over the years.

This can deplete your survivors inheritance. No prior notification of costs are sent so that an estimated dollar amount can be assessed or paid down. A large assessment is produced causing the force of sale of your property. Also known as SUPRISE MEDICAL BILLING.

If a homeowner has to transfer the property to another just to receive needed care, the transferred party has no legal obligation to share the sacrificed property with the rightful heirs upon death.

Resident's who have paid their taxes for years to the California economy are being treated this way while the Governor and state law makers are passing a bill to enable undocumented immigrants medical care, services and privileges that natural born citizens are unable to receive without recovery.

I understand we have a humanitarian crisis that we don't want to overlook or place blame; property ownership is a source of wealth in the lower income communities. Moreover, if a home has to be leveraged then the best of healthcare should be rendered . This Program has to end going forward and past actions should be considered and remedied thereof.
