Thomas Hall started this petition to California State Senate and

Professionally educated non-union teachers do not have a realistic livable wage that reflects their education and dedication to our youth. In my industry technicians that supply their own tools have a minimum wage of 2x their counties minimum wage because of their education and self supplied equipment. For the amazing people that are shaping our youth, our future, they should be afforded the same opportunity. Every teacher I know spends approximately 20% of their personal, meager income on classroom supplies, specialty items and continued education that is not supplemented by any agency or establishment.

By establishing a “livable” minimum wage for professionally educated teachers it will require public and private institutions to vet and hire quality non-union teachers that have taken the time to educate and develops their craft.

Professionally educated teachers are the life blood of our education system. They are responsible for molding and developing our youth. Their education process is never ending, like a doctor or attorney, there is a constant need to continue learning new methods and procedures to improve the education process. Please stand with me to support an amazing group of people who have an amazing love of their profession and our children.
