In 2009 I was severly injured in a hit and run, The driver was later found, he was driving on a suspended license for a previous DUI, he was convicted in 2012 and sent to State Prison for 3 years and Life time ban on driving. However, no paperwork was filled with the DMV to revoke his license, he was released from prison after serving 18 months and was let back out on the steets, where 6 months later he comminted another hit and run while under the influence and receved another DUI. Here are some facts: 1) At sentencing we all heard the Judge told him he could not drive for rest of his life 2) After his release from prison, people in the community saw this man driving (as reported in Mercury News) 3) His latest arrest shows he is both drinking and driving again 3a) He was convicted of driving under the influence shortly before he hit the female cyclist. Driving on suspended license at that time. 4) The DUI driver is currently on probation for hit and run felony. 4a) Probation violation hearing is on Monday 5) Fundamental problem: He is an alcoholic with no regard for the law. He will never obey the court orders. We need tougher measures to keep such people from injuring or killing innocent people. We need harsher punishments For people like This. This petition is not dircetly about him, it is about the countless repeat DUI offenders who continue to drive on our streets.
