We are almost a year and half into the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving the whole world to pick up the pieces from a devastating economic downfall. With millions just alone in California still unemployed and struggling, the Employment Development Department is at all time high of backlogged unemployment claims. Leaving more than 1 million claimants in limbo, not knowing when they will receive any income to support themselves or their families.

We need your help to make a change and get the gears really in motion to jump start a plan for our government and state officials to tackle the extreme backlog of claims. With very limited staff and no way to reach a representative through phone, it leaves many claims neglected and many issues stay unresolved.

Many have been waiting for months to receive a decision on their extension or certify for benefits. A new system must be put in order to make headway with the extreme backlog. If that may be adding a department, changing job requirements to add more staff, or opening back their phone lines at 100% again to take our calls.

Millions of people are still struggling to find a job, as well trying to make ends meet. Please sign my petition to give the people who have been waiting on a status or answer on their claim a voice. Our families depend on it.
