Classify Neo-Nazi Groups As Terrorist Organizations

This is a petition calling for a resolution to be introduced in the California State Assembly and Senate, to classify the Neo-Nazi and Ku Klux Klan as terrorist organizations. Following adoption of that resolution, the State of California should immediately pass legislation prohibiting any state employee, pension, medical or contract recipient from holding membership within their ranks and allow local governments to do the same. The State of Illinois has already adopted a similar resolution, California should do the same and go a step further.

During the 1930's and 40's, the rise of Nazism in Germany stripped away the opportunity for democracy in Germany at that time with its totalitarian and genocidal actions. When they came to power, the Nazis murdered millions of people in Europe, who did not fit their criteria for a "pure Aryan race" among their number Jewish, gay and even black people living in Germany at the time. Later these same Nazi's would kill thousands of American troops during World War II. As a veteran, any tolerance of this behavior is a slap in the face of those who served before me in that conflict.

In similar manner, the rise of the "Alt-Right" of Neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members and sympathizers poses a deadly threat to the United States and the "domestic tranquility" enshrined to the Constitution. We saw this play out in Charlottesville, Virginia when this group and it's adherants marched into a peaceful college town waving Nazi flags, performing salutes, beating others and mowing down crowds in protest to their presence with vehicles, killing activist Heather Heyer and injuring many more. There is no difference between the Nazi flag and the flag of ISIS or any terrorist organization, except the Nazi's killed many more.

There is no place for these kind of organizations in America. Yes this country provides Constitutional rights of free speech, yet these freedoms have limits. The limits being when they endanger the lives of others. And any tolerance of these groups by elected officials and others endangers our citizens, putting their lives at risk. This must stop.

California must lead in this way, by passing a resolution to classify the Neo - Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan as terrorist organizations, and following that, prohibit any state employee, pension or contract recipient from having membership in their ranks.  We must be united in our opposition to the mainstream acceptance of this threat to the very fabric of the country.
