Petitioning California legislature

End the 2/3 requirement to raise revenue

California is one of only 17 states in the country that require a 2/3 vote or greater to raise revenue. We live in a majority democracy and a 2/3 vote for anything is undemocratic. It allows for the tyranny of the minority.

Last Spring in California, Governor Brown and the Legislative Democrats proposed a budget that contained half-cuts and half-revenue increases to close the state's $24 billion deficit. The minority Republicans in the Legislature were able to block any revenue increases thereby requiring devastating cuts to California's education system and to vital services.

Please sign this petition now and stop the undemocratic process of the minority dictating to the majority.
