Andrew Tahmooressi, a San Diego Marine veteran who suffers from PTSD is being held without bail in Mexico on weapons charges for allegedly bringing guns across the border when he accidently missed an exit when heading to meet friends in a border town.
Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, was headed to dinner in San Ysidro on March 31 when he became lost and mistakenly wound up at the border crossing point in Tijuana.
Mexican authorities searched his truck that was piled high with his possessions and included his U.S. legally purchased firearms/ ammunition. He was in the process of moving and had recently driven from Florida to make a new start in San Diego. After explaining to Mexican officials that he'd crossed accidently after becoming lost He was jailed, and for the last month has been held in Tijuana's La Mesa Penitentiary without bail.
Arrested since 4/1/2014, since incarceration his life has been threatened; sustained a neck wound requiring hospitalization and chained in a 4-point restraint, 26+days. The affect of this unjust incarceration on a decorated combat Marine is despairing. Tahmooressi supported by U.S. Consular Services yet low hope.
