Allow transfer of meal swipes and dining dollars at California Baptist University

At CBU students are not allowed to transfer their unused meal swipes to other students in need. Nearly 60% of students are food insecure in American college campuses. According to the CBU handbook section 50.1.2. "Members of the campus community may not loan, borrow, or engage in any form of unauthorized use of CBU cards", and in section 50.4. "Unused Meal Swipes and/or Dining Dollars don not "carry over" to the next semester or summer session and are not refundable", and in section 50.6.3. "Dining Dollars are not transferable". However, according to section 50.6.5. "Dining Dollars may be used to purchase food and beverage items for guests". The CBU "core 4" desired outcomes are for "Academically Prepared, Biblically Rooted, Globally Minded, Equipped to Serve" students to be produced. Leviticus 23:22 states '"'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the LORD your God.''. In order for a student to be equipped as a biblical Christ follower they must be trained to be generous and kind. The fact the school actively punishes students for providing food that they have paid for to students that need it is inherently unethical and contrary to Biblical principles. This is why the handbook must be changed to allow for Biblical generosity to help all of their students. As a result, we are seeking the repeal and/or revision of the aforementioned codes, and all other codes which restrict students' ability to spend the meal swipes, and dining dollars, in the way in which they desire. Also, we seek a complete repeal of any codes which prevent CBU students from sharing their food privileges with one another.
"He defended the cause of the poor and needy,
and so all went well.
Is that not what it means to know me?”
declares the Lord"
