URGENT ACTION NEEDED: BBC pressing forward with plans to implement SB 296!
Aug 23, 2017 — The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology has assembled a Task Force to put together "next steps" of how to implement SB 296 once it passes. The meeting is mid September, more details to be announced.
The passing of this bill will only serve to VALIDATE THE ILLEGAL ACTIVITY and injury caused to consumers that 21 overwhelmed BBC inspectors have failed to “catch in the act” thus far.
Additionally, the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology does not have oversight of the schools that educate their licensees. The agency that does have oversight doesn't require continuing education OR licenses from their instructors. Is this how you want your manicurist, only trained previously in nail technology, to learn hair removal and proper treatment of the skin?
If you think the lawmakers that have pushed for action, Senator Janet Nguyen (R) and Senator Jerry Hill (D) have forgotten this bill, you are mistaken. They are reaching across the aisle in an effort to allow nail techs to expand their scope in a very dangerous way.
