John Doe started this petition to Calhoun county board of commissioners

I petition the board of commissioners to remove and replace all management at the road department for failure to do their job. This management team has been in place now for over two years, and the roads have since significantly further deteriorated under their control. Excluding the emmet road millage, they paved fewer miles in 2020 than they have in 10 years, with no plans to increase that number. Their excuse is the same every time, the budget. If budget was such an issue, why are we paying this management team considerably more than the last one in place? We also give our supervisors the luxury of driving their work trucks home every day. The county's response to the supervisors being allowed to do this is quicker response time. I ask the question quicker response to what? There couch at home at the end of the shift. Because four supervisors are not all going to show up at a call in the middle of the night. All county vehicles have GPS give us access to the emergency phone call log and see how many calls these supervisors actually respond to. I, along with hundreds of other Calhoun county residents, have spent hundreds if not thousands fixing my vehicle from hitting potholes. The county's response is the same every time we will get to it within 30 days. 30 days isn't good enough anymore. They have had over two years in their positions and have accomplished less than any other management team before them. I understand that you can't fix things overnight, but two years is not overnight. The road department's budget has done nothing but increase over the past ten years, but what have we lost. We have lost our cars, roads, and tax dollars on road department miss management and miss appropriation of funds. Calhoun county road department spent over $75,000 moving an in-ground truck hoist 75ft because they put it in an inconvenient place the first time. During this process, they received several workplace violations from OSHA. These are your and my tax dollars wasted. I understand why some community members blame the road workers because it's easy, and it's who they see doing the work. The truth is these workers are tired of seeing underqualified management make decisions that they know won't work and is a waste of money, but management won't listen, and the workers have to do what they're told. Management also keeps cutting road worker jobs so they can hire more and more contractors to do the work for more money and a lesser quality job. They hire Lakeland asphalt to do all of their paving while they have a machine that cost over 200,000 sitting there collecting dust. Management will tell you that Lakeland does it cheaper and more efficiently, and our workers don't know how to pave. This is highly untrue, and they are lying right to your face. Several of the workers still employed at the road department used to run a paver back when the road department had a management team in place that cared about their roads and not about driving a road department work truck home. Management has quite having the workers work overtime in the summer, and they say it's a budget issue. What it comes down to is management feels that the roads can wait. My question is, when do we have to stop waiting. Over two years and your position and it's worse off than when you started. What it comes down to is I could write a 1,000-page book give a 1,000 examples on how this management team is unqualified and undeserving of our tax dollars, but the truth is you don't need to take my word for it just drive these roads and you will see for yourself.
