Calgary Transit CTrains need to run 24-hours on Fridays and Saturdays

Currently, CTrain service in Calgary ceases at roughly 12:30pm, however 'last call' in bars and nightclubs is not until 2:00am. This leaves many Calgarians struggling to find a way home, leaving the possibility to make the terrible choice to drink and drive. Therefore, Calgary Transit should provide 24-hour CTrain service on Friday and Saturday to provide Calgarians an affordable, easily accessible and safe method of transportation home from a night out.

The total cost of having 8 drivers, spread across the 2 routes, would range somewhere between $117,000.00 and $142,000.00 per year (in total combined salary alone). While this cost may seem high, consider that MADD Canada estimates the total cost of impaired driving crashes in 2010 at $20.62Billion.
