Open Calgary (non-city run) Arenas to Parents & Guardians

0 have signed. Let’s get to 5,000!

Arenas across the City of Calgary have made new policies based on their Covid-19 understanding. As a result, non-city run arenas have decided to BAN parents from spectating/watching and at some arenas, even entering the building.

Children deserve the right to have their parent/guardian to help, guide, and watch them learn to skate, power skating, figure skating, play ringette and/or hockey.  They are expecting the players (of all ages, starting at 4 years old) to dress at home, or in the parking lot (some cases INCLUDING their skates) and be able to get on /off the ice without assistance.

This petition is asking arenas to change their protocols to have parents in the building to watch and supervise their children for the safety of all involved.

Ideas to continue would be:

Stay 6" apart

Wear masks

Sanitize in & out

No loitering in the lobby

Sit 6" apart on the bleachers on designated "X's"

Ask parents/guardians to clean spectator seating after practice

Banning parents from the arena is NOT the answer. Please sign this petition if you agree.

Also, here is the contact information for each facility’s general manager (if possible), if you would like to contact them directly with your concerns:
