Calgary schools should not close completely for the year because of Covid-19. This will not do anything. It will drastically affect the mental health of students, school is a place for us where we get to be with other kids our age and fit in for once in our lives. Kids bond with their teachers for some it’s the only good sort of their days seeing the teachers bright smiles.I speak from experience seeing my humanities teacher is the part of day that is happy and for 6 months I won’t have that. If that is taken away that will that do ? Students have also not finished the years curriculum, how will we succeed in the up coming year?
Students can wear masks, wash hands regularly and keep hand sanitizer with them. Teachers are losing their jobs they still have to work why can’t be go too. What will they do without child care for their kids take them to school? They have nothing to do without us there. Bus drivers are also out of Jobs for the time being and us students aren’t learning.
Since schools have closed for a week before spring break and that’s 3 weeks in total why not just do that many. It takes that long for recovery and that is a good amount off until April fools day. Instead of September this is better for all.
The students in grade 5, 9 and 12 won’t celebrate the moving on to new schools or even graduation, which they work hard for. We get this is for people’s health but kids aren’t at risk for the virus so what’s the use of this? School should resume in April instead of September for the benefit if all students and teachers
