Good Afternoon everyone, I would like to encourage you to sign this petition in regards to the Corona Virus pandemic. I currently am a grade 9 student enrolled in a Catholic Board School and if everyone is able to contribute and sign this petition you may help stop cases of the virus happening. The virus can spread in multiple ways: coming in contact (touching/shaking) with a person who has the virus, an individual with the virus coughing and sneezing without covering their mouth and coming into contact with surfaces/objects that have the virus and then touching the nose, eyes, or mouth. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) suggest that young children, people over the age of 65 or older and pregnant women have the highest risk of developing the coronavirus. The school I currently attend goes from Kindergarten to grade nine. Meaning that young children attend the school and also teachers. Even though most of the teachers are not above the age of 65 they are still at a higher risk than the older students. Washing hands frequently does help but as we have young children at the school they may not always do it and if they touch a surface after and someone else touches it bacteria will be transferred around the school. I believe not attending school is a good solution for now as the virus is becoming more and more severe. Not attending school though can be solved as online schooling can be put in place.
