This Petition has been formally started to Crescent Heights Highschool in Calgary.

Being able to go to the washroom is a basic need in a school. Forcing people who use the FEMALE washrooms in particular to walk halfway across the school just to go to the washroom. There have been multiple incidents of students being on their period and not making it to the washroom in time because they have to walk across the school. There has also been Cases of teachers getting agitated at students for being “gone too long” or not getting to class in time because the closest unlocked washroom is a 5 minute walk there and 5 minute walk back. That is already 10 minutes. This doesn’t even include the increase in line ups in the washroom because there are less available. 

I would like to touch on the matter that the teachers are concerned about which is “inappropriate behaviour” or too many people in one bathroom. I don’t believe it is appropriate to be walking into washrooms and knocking on stalls and kicking students out of a public space for a human right. On the note or inappropriate behaviour I would hope school isn’t teaching students that others will get injustice for others wrong doings. I believe that students should be dealt with individually with suspensions, warnings, or whatever seems to be appropriate. 

My last point is that this only happens to the FEMALE washrooms. I have never heard of all the boys washrooms being closed. It is only the females. I love that our school is still encouraging the discrimination against females.
