Each year over 447,125 plastic covers are put into the land fill bin at Vista Grande. These plastic covers take around 500 years to decompose and cause harm by releasing pollutants in water and soil. Instead of using aluminum plates and plastic covers Vista Grande should be using Paper plates and aluminum covers. These type of plates are used by large companies such as chipotle and Qdoba and would be easy to integrate into the service system at Vista Grande
