Day centres in Caerphilly for people who require additional support are closed and have been since the start of the covid-19 pandemic.Some carers and users have recieved questionnaires stating that day services will not be how they used to be before covid. They are proposing changing day services to be community based,which involves most users being taken out by a support worker for a few hours a week instead of up to 5 full days at a day centre. Only offering some users to be able to attend a base for am or pm sessions. This is not enough!

These day centres are vital for their users and their carers.They help users to make friends,learn new skills,give them a sense of purpose and stop loneliness all in a safe environment.Being taken out by a support worker is not enough.

They help carers to have a break,be able to work or do everyday things that they wouldn't be able to do with their cared for ones around.

Keeping the day centres closed and proposing reductions in services is having a detrimental effect on all concerned,including the fantastic staff that work in them.The mental and physical health of those involved are suffering.

Now that college's,pubs ,shops etc are all open again and life is returning to normal,We are asking that all day centres are reopened fully and kept open!We also need full day sessions to restart and no reduction of services. We need our days service support to be as it was before covid hit.
