Laura Thomas started this petition to Caerphilly County Borough Council and

Caerphilly is a town with the potential to attract many tourists with our magnificent 13th century castle. However, the surrounding amenities leave a lot to be desired and residents have campaigned for years for some decent eateries and bars to enhance the experience and atmosphere of the town.

Recent years have seen some improvements with good restaurants opening and refurbishments of some existing pubs but the town is increasing in size and a more conscientious clientele want more choice than a few run down bars with cheap booze to drink in.

The announcement that Brew Monster wanted to open a bar in Caerphilly was music to the ears of anyone who wanted a more modern, ambient bar to drink good quality ales but objections have already been raised based on imagined scenarios.

Yes, the site is near to a school but name me one village or town in the UK that doesn’t have (or has had) this scenario. The same with residential properties.

I think a bar of this nature will set an amazing precedent for a general upgrade to Caerphilly town centre and will not only encourage tourists to spend money in our town but will attract customers from across the borough and beyond.
