The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) was formally established on 1 March 2016 under the Malaysian Aviation Commission Act 2015 as an independent entity to regulate economic and commercial matters related to civil aviation in Malaysia. Based on the information on its website, the goal is to promote a commercially viable, consumer-oriented and resilient civil aviation industry which supports the nation’s economic growth.

However, from the recent reports and complaints from several airliners, we, as a Malaysian, noted that MAVCOM did not have clear policies on how to advance and regulate the civil aviation industry in Malaysia, particularly on the route allocation in Malaysia. Additionally, MAVCOM has consistently failed to provide reasonable explanation or data to substantiate its official statement.

We strongly believe that the MAVCOM should be abolished and replaced by better governance body.
