Make NZ Drone Rules Clearer

Make NZ Drone Rules Clearer
After a recent poll was taken, 39% of Drone Operators had no problems with the ways and 44% of operators described the rules as unclear, not helpful, difficult to find places to fly, and that we want something new. The rest of answers were directed at specific reasons, eg: Complexity of gaining permission and permits from Council & DoC.
I am always seeing people getting confused about where they can fly, grey areas in the rules, water airfields, Department of Conservation land, Regional Parks, problems with AirShare and more.
Drones capture beautiful scenery of our country. The restrictions are too heavy and too light in places. Another thing I constantly see is that people asking if they can fly in Regional or National Parks. The answer is mostly no. Flyers have gotten so used to not bother interacting with DoC that they just say don’t bother requesting permits because of the lengthy process that takes months.
The solution is simple. Make simple clear rules about flying in NZ. Upgrade or get rid of AirShare. Make flying easier for Drone Pilots without having to spend $1000 on Part 102 Training. Make submitting permits easier. Make short day term quick submit permits for flying over DoC Land.
Let Drone Flyers Capture The Beauty of NZ.
