In 2012, Staff Sergeant Nhubu Chikaka was wrongfully accused of several charges of sexual assault.
Evidence (and lack thereof) was ignored by the Marine Corps because it felt a pressure to convict.
In March 2014, SSgt Chikaka was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment for allegedly sending inappropriate text messages that were never produced by the accusers; allegedly texting a request to meet a recruit at an office where the recruit was touched over the clothes by SSgt Chikaka (the text did not exist) and allegedly hugging another recruit.
in 2013 - one year after the accusations were made and one year before the Court Martial - two of the accusers no longer wished to pursue their accusations, yet their charges remained.
An entire Article 32 transcript was "lost" by the USMC in SSgt Chikaka's case to ensure he would be convicted.

Require the military to prosecute sexual assault cases on their merit and with evidence; without Unlawful Command Influence.
The innocent in the present should not be "thrown under the bus" to extract penance for the military's past wrongs.
