Byron Township residents don't support MF/PUD rezoning of 1810 84th in Byron Township

A proposal to rezone the land from Single family (Urban Residential) to Multi-family and PUD has been submitted to the Byron Township Planning Committee and then to the township Board of directors. Eastbrook homes has submitted a development plan that would add multifamily condo's / townhouses, and some single family homes. Here is their proposal.
This plan adds high density housing next to an established neighborhood, routes traffic through existing cul-de-sac's, and neighborhood streets, lacks safe and appropriate entry / exits into the development, would create traffic and congestion, including at an already dangerous entrance off 84th (Woodruff) and the other a new exit right in front of the high school off Burlingame. This high density development, along with the future Ultimate soccer facility across from the high school and the future Family Fare potentially going in at the SW corner of the Burlingame and 84th intersection, would create a huge traffic risk at/near one of the worst traffic intersections in the township. This development plan increases traffic and the risk of accidents right in front of the high school where hundreds of new drivers and buses already pass each day. The Kent County road commission has only studied traffic further East on 84th St and does not feel that there is significant traffic or safety impacts and does not feel that further studies or remediation of entry / exit point into the development are necessary. Currently, the speed limits are too high, the school zones too short and there are no sidewalks on Burlingame and pedestrian crosswalks are inadequate / unsafe.
The township Planning Committee has approved the MF/PUD rezoning proposal June 18 and it now will move to the township board for their review at the July 23 board meeting.
Please take a minute to do your part to protect our community and schools from irresponsible high density development. To express your opinion to let the township board know that you do not approve of the rezoning to MF and PUD of this land and reject Eastbrook's high density development plans,
