What’s this project about?
A pump track is a bike track with bumps, jumps and turns made of asphalt. It is suitable for kids, teenagers or adults of all ages and can be used with pushbikes, scooters, and skateboards. The vacant block behind the soccer field is currently unused (but still attracts maintenance costs) whilst the Suffolk Park community suffers from a lack of kids recreational facilities.
Suffolk Park is a growing suburb south of Byron Bay with many families and kids of all ages living here. The skate park attracts lots of kids of all ages but is overcrowded. The pump track will spread the kids over two facilities increasing skateboarders, scooters and pushbikers safety.
The project will be carried out by a specialist pump track builder who has a track record of similar projects carried out Australia wide. We are aiming to start the project on 01 September 2019.
Why should you vote for this project?
The growing Suffolk Park community needs more sporting facilities for kids of all ages.
The current skatepark is overcrowded at times and too dangerous for younger kids.
The vacant block behind the soccer field requires on-going maintenance whilst being unused by the community.
