Businesses and government officials should pay back PPP loans

Businesses and government officials should pay back PPP loans
Warum ist diese Petition wichtig?
Recently, the US government tried to forgive a small bit of student loans for working class Americans. This amounted to $10,000 for the average student, and an extra $10,000 for students who received Pell grants.
Although this was only a small bit of relief for many students like my wife, who currently has $100,000 of student debt for going to school to work in Healthcare as a speech pathologist, the Republicans have decided to block this student debt relief.
Meanwhile, during the covid pandemic, small businesses and many of our government officials took out PPP loans. These loans were meant to keep small businesses afloat during the covid-19 pandemic. These loans were then forgiven by the American government. How or why government officials were able to take out these loans as well is irrelevant, but it is my opinion that these people and businesses took out loans and thus should pay this money back to the government because it is money owed.
As an example of this: congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia had a $183,504 PPP loan forgiven by the government.
Representative Vern Buchanon of Georgia took out $2.3 million PPP loan forgiven by the government.
Representative Matt Gaetz took out a $482,321 PPP loan which was forgiven.
Representative Mike Kelly took out a $987,237 PPP loan which was forgiven.
And these few are only scratching the surface. Much like money is owed by the students and they should then pay the money back, we should hold businesses and government officials accountable to pay back the money they owe and withdraw the loan forgiveness that they were so graciously given.
