Bushfire dangers cannot - and SHOULD NOT be ‘mediated’.

Bushfire dangers cannot - and SHOULD NOT be ‘mediated’.
The Save Perth Hills’ Community demands that Satterley Property Group’s ‘North Stoneville’ urban development appeal - being held behind CLOSED DOORS for more than 1½ years, must end on March 11 and go to an open Public hearing.
Please support us to say that bushfire risks are everyone’s business - not a closed-door, private conversation between bureaucrats and a profit-driven developer.
Satterley wants to build 1500 houses, for more than 4000 people in Perth’s Hills on 555 hectares surrounded by an Extreme Bushfire Zone - AND destroy more than 200 hectares of natural bushland in an internationally recognised bio-diverse region.
In July 2020, Western Australia’s highest planning authority, the Planning Commission (WAPC) rejected Satterley’s plan, because it contravenes 4 State Planning Policies including Bushfire Dangers and Environmental Destruction.
We, the community, are not allowed to know the grounds of Satterley’s appeal, lodged in August 2020.
At least 7 confidential, closed-door ‘mediation’ sessions have been held at the State Administrative Tribunal.
Unsurprisingly, Satterley is challenged by the extent of increasing bushfire and evacuation risks that its sprawling suburban-style development would create to new - and surrounding Hills‘ residents.
Save Perth Hills gave 3 brief submissions over the last 1.5 years, but 2 weeks ago was formally banned from future hearings - including March 11.
We ask the Community to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Please, sign Save Perth Hills’ petition to end mediation on March 11, and to secure an open public appeal to know our bushfire safety concerns are being heard and appropriately represented.
Please join us to say Bushfire dangers CANNOT BE MEDIATED.
1½ years’ of failed mediation proves it.
