BSD ALIGN WITH CA - MAKE MASKING OPTIONAL

BSD ALIGN WITH CA - MAKE MASKING OPTIONAL
March 3, 2022
To the Burlingame School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Chris Mount-Benites,
It has been a privilege to live in this community during a pandemic. We have selflessly supported our children, teachers and neighbors. We have made the necessary sacrifices and listened to science. We have been vaccinated, boosted, masked, tested and distanced. In keeping with this, it is now time to align ourselves with the recommendation of our governor and make masking optional in schools. To date, BSD has aligned with the recommendations of the state and San Mateo County. There is no science-based reason for Burlingame schools to ignore the deliberate and coordinated efforts of Washington, Oregon and California to make school masking optional. Our children have sacrificed the most in this pandemic, and it’s time to empower individual families to choose when and where their children will wear a mask.
As our elected officials and school leadership, please support the will of a careful, thoughtful and compassionate community. Align with the state of California to make making optional in schools.
