Bullet Train for Canberra
Tokyo has it. Paris has it. Madrid, Beijing and London have it. And now we have the opportunity to have it right here in Canberra – bullet train technology that would get us to Sydney in less than an hour.
No more long queues at airport security waiting for people to dig through their bags for their laptops. No more long bus rides. No more late-night drives worrying about speed cameras or car accidents.
It’s simpler, cheaper and more sustainable – and with the Government looking right now at federal budget priorities, we have the chance to make it real.
High-speed rail technology already exists. The Greens and Independents are pushing for it in Parliament. The federal Government has almost completed its $20 million feasibility study.
And next week, a group of young Canberrans are meeting with Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese to ask for federal funding for a bullet train for Canberra.
Never before has there been this much media attention on high-speed rail for Canberra. Will you help turn the attention into action by signing our petition? We’ll bring it to the meeting with the federal Transport Minister to make sure your voice is heard.
Thank you so much for your help. The more people sign our petition before our meeting with the Transport Minister, the more he'll listen to us. With your voice, we can make sure high speed rail for Canberra is listed high on the whiteboard when federal Cabinet sits down over summer to make its budget decisions.
All around the western world fast trains are providing alternatives to expensive flights. A fast train connecting Australia's eastern seaboard would give Canberrans real transport options. It's more than worth the investment.
