Bettina Moores started this petition to Minister Dominic Cardy (Education Minister) and

Building next to BMHS presents many issues for the communities of the Old and New West Ends of Moncton. Our small children will lose the ability to walk to school and those that are older will be forced to cross the busy intersections of St George Boulevard. We are concerned with the increased traffic that will occur by adding a second school to the BMHS location.

By eliminating the ability to walk to school we are also promoting a sedentary lifestyle for our youth, where currently a large percentage of our children are able to walk to and from school. The proximity of schools to where children live, also promotes greater participation in after school actives. We only need to look at Moncton High school to see the negative impact that moving schools out of neighbourhoods can have on our children.

After school hours, these buildings also serve our communities as gathering places, green spaces, playgrounds and basketball courts.

Our schools are the hearts of our community in the West end. Please sign if you do not agree with the new proposed location next to BMHS.

Our community voices need to be heard and we should be included the in decision.
