Why this petition matters

A short stretch of Shenley Road between Holmsley Road and Meadow Road (pictured) became a frequent, difficult and dangerous crossing point for residents of Borehamwood.

This came about because of an increased population in the area - after Hertsmere Mews, an estate of over 300 homes, was completed in 2020. Also, this estate consists of a cut-through leading to Elstree Way, making it an attractive route for parents walking with children to any of the 3 primary schools located in the vicinity of Meadow Park.

Finally, an extra hazard in the spot exists because of cars parking on double-yellow lines at Shenley Road and - as a result of vehicles entering the junction from any of the four ways leading to the spot.

It is important that Hertfordshire County Council considers building traffic lights-enabled pedestrian crossing in this spot.
