Build Accessible Playground for Adults and Children with Disabilities

Build Accessible Playground for Adults and Children with Disabilities
In Oldham County there are no playgrounds or exercise areas that promote inclusivity and activity for people of all abilities and ages.
Congressman John Yarmuth has the opportunity to recommend a community project for federal funding, and we want funding included for an inclusive playground and exercise area.
Pillar (formerly Apple Patch Community, Inc.) serves adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have a small tract of land that we would donate to be used to build an accessible playground and outdoor fitness area that will be 100% open to the community. Close to the Jefferson County line, it will also be available to neighboring counties.
The project will include swings and equipment for all ages and abilities that will encourage social inclusion, promote independence, and most importantly keep us all moving.
In the past, people with disabilities have been isolated and excluded from these areas with equipment that does not meet their needs. A community park will bring everyone together!
Without this area people with disabilities will continue to find it difficult to engage with community and feel included.
Please sign this petition encouraging Congressman John Yarmuth to recommend Pillar's project for an inclusive playground and fitness area to the FY23 appropriations bill.
